IdL Team

At the Institute of Languages, we pride ourselves on having the best professionals—highly qualified teachers specializing in language instruction and exam preparation. Our team, comprised of the Directorate and Coordination staff, is particularly rigorous during the selection process for new hires. We evaluate not only the academic background of our teachers but also their experience in delivering language courses and their area of specialization.

After the selection process, all new members of the IdL team undergo specific training in new technologies (including the use of the Virtual Platform and Campus) as well as in active methodologies, which are highly valued at our University. We place special emphasis on ensuring that our students are guided and taught by the best teachers, who support them throughout their learning journey.

Our teaching staff works across all campuses of the Catholic University of Valencia (Valencia, Torrent, Godella, Burjassot, Alzira, and Xàtiva) as well as at external locations (Alicante and Castellón), ensuring that language education and training are accessible to both internal and external students, regardless of their location.

General Management

Dr. Lucía De Ros Cócera

Dr Lucía de Ros Cócera holds an International PhD in Applied Linguistics and Neuroeducation from the Universitat Politècnica de València. She is a professional deeply passionate about language teaching and educational management. She holds a degree in Tourism from the Universitat de València and completed her academic training with a Master’s Degree in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language (VIU), a Master’s Degree in Technological Innovation in Education (UCV), and a Global MBA+ in Business Management in a Global Environment from the Catholic University of Valencia.

Since 2017, she has carried out her academic work at UCV, where she initially served as Academic Coordinator of the Spanish as a Foreign Language (SFL) Department and, since 2021, has been Director of the Language Institute. In this role, she leads a multidisciplinary team committed to educational excellence, internationalisation and methodological innovation. She combines her management responsibilities with teaching at the International University of Valencia (VIU), where she lectures on the Master’s programmes in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language and Bilingual Education, and supervises Master’s Final Projects.

She is an examiner and Chief Examiner for the Instituto Cervantes, accredited at all DELE levels (A1–C2). She has participated as a speaker at conferences and specialised forums in applied linguistics, language teaching and educational gamification, including the Enhance Staff Week (UPV), the 17th Forum of Teachers of Spanish as a Foreign Language (University of Valencia), and the Instituto Cervantes Conferences (SACIC). She also

collaborates as a placement tutor for the Master’s programmes in Teaching Spanish at the University of Valencia and UNIR.

She has published several works on language didactics, teaching innovation and teacher training.

In 2023, she was nominated for the Best Teacher in Spain Award, a recognition that highlights her commitment to approachable, innovative and people-centred teaching.

On a personal level, Lucía defines herself as a leader with a vocation for service, firmly believing that humility, teamwork and continuous learning are the foundations of both professional and personal growth.

She enjoys creating collaborative learning environments and strongly believes in the transformative power of language education as a means of connecting cultures.

Administration

Ms. Jeily Díaz

Jeily is an administrative professional with extensive experience, bringing a unique perspective by combining management within the educational and financial sectors. She holds a degree in Advertising and Public Relations from Universidad Rafael Belloso Chacín and a degree in Accounting from Universidad del Zulia (Venezuela). In addition, she has completed a Master’s Degree in Digital Marketing, which strengthens her strategic profile and her knowledge of the digital environment.

Throughout her career, she has worked in companies within the education, tobacco and agricultural sectors, carrying out roles in commercial, administrative and accounting

areas. She is currently part of the UCV Language Institute, where she serves as Head of Administration and Pearson Test Administrator for official computer-based examinations, ensuring the correct management and delivery of the tests.

She is characterised by strong organisational skills and a natural ability for communication, qualities that enable her to build effective connections and exert a positive influence within her professional environment. Her experience has allowed her to promote educational programmes, optimise processes and achieve objectives in commercial settings, combining strategy, empathy and a results-oriented approach.

Coordination

Spanish Coordination and Language Services

Mr Pablo España González

Mr Pablo España González holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Primary Education with a specialisation in English Language from the University of Alcalá. As part of the Erasmus programme, he completed a year of study at the Latvian Academy of Culture. He subsequently obtained a Master’s Degree in Teacher Training for Spanish as a Foreign Language from the University of Alcalá and, in the 2023/24 academic year, completed a Master’s Degree in Languages and Technology at the Universitat Politècnica de València.

Since 2021, he has been teaching at the Catholic University of Valencia, where he delivers Spanish courses for international mobility programmes as well as Spanish for Specific Purposes. Since 2025, he has held the position of Coordinator of the Spanish Department and Language Services. During this period, he has undertaken teaching placements at foreign universities such as Lund University (Sweden), Budapest Business University (Hungary) and the University of Gdansk (Poland). He has also worked as a visiting lecturer at institutions including the University of Padua (Italy), Florida State University (Valencia) and Cáritas.

He currently combines his professional activity with the completion of his doctoral thesis at the University of Alcalá, focusing on political discourse analysis, phraseology and new technologies, where he also supervises Master’s Final Projects. He is an accredited DELE examiner at all levels, certified by the Instituto Cervantes.

Spanish coordinator

Pablo España González

Initially graduated from the University of Alcalá de Henares with a degree in Primary Education Teaching, specializing in English Language, he completed part of his studies at the Latvian Academy of Culture (Latvia). Soon, his interest in language teaching, especially Spanish, began to take shape.

He graduated again from the University of Alcalá de Henares with a Master’s degree in Training Teachers of Spanish as a Foreign Language and has had the opportunity to work at various institutions and universities. He has served as a Spanish teaching assistant at his alma mater, Spanish language assistant at the University of Padua (Italy), university Spanish professor at Florida State University (Valencia), and Spanish teacher for immigrants at Cáritas.

Since 2021, he has been a Spanish professor at the Catholic University of Valencia, where he mainly teaches Spanish courses for international mobility students and Spanish for specific purposes to dentistry students. During his time at this university, he has also completed teaching stays at foreign universities such as Lund University (Sweden), Budapest Business University (Hungary), and the University of Gdansk (Poland).

Starting in 2025, he takes on the responsibility and functions of coordinator for the Spanish Department and Linguistic Services, bringing his expertise to enhance the quality and academic management of the department.

He works as a certified DELE examiner accredited by the Instituto Cervantes for all levels. He is committed to continuous training and research, specializing in the linguistic field of phraseology.

English coordinator

Mr Juan Novella Muñoz

Combining a strong academic background with a passion for teaching, Juan is an experienced ESL and Spanish teacher who has been working in university settings since 2018. He is currently pursuing a PhD at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), complementing his teaching work at the Language Institute with advanced research in the field of language learning.

He holds a Master’s Degree in Teacher Training for Secondary Education and the CELTA qualification (Cambridge Certificate in Teaching English to Adults). Juan currently oversees Pearson examinations held at the university in his role as Examinations Officer and also acts as an Interlocutor for the Pearson English International Certificate (PEIC).

He has also collaborated at the Language Institute as a trainer on the English-Medium Instruction (EMI) Training Programme, aimed at primary and secondary school teachers interested in integrating English as the language of instruction in curricular subjects.

In addition, he is an accredited DELE examiner certified by the Instituto Cervantes and collaborates in the teaching of Spanish courses at the Language Institute. Notably, he participated in the design and delivery of a specialised course for Ukrainian refugees, focused on facilitating their linguistic and cultural integration during their stay in Spain.

Valencian and CIEACOVA

Dr. María Jesús Carrera Hueso

Dr Mª Jesús Carrera Hueso holds degrees in Catalan Philology and Hispanic Philology from the University of Valencia and completed the Master’s Degree in University Teacher Training at UCV in 2014. As a researcher, she was awarded a PhD cum laude in Catalan Philology for her thesis Polyphony and Heterogeneity in the Narrative Work of Joan Pla. In 2018, she co-authored the book How to Prepare an Academic Paper in the Field of Education, published by UCV.

She taught at Compulsory Secondary Education, Upper Secondary Education and Adult Education levels from 1992 to 2009, and from 2008 she combined this teaching activity with Valencian language certification training. From 2010 onwards, she began teaching at the Faculty of Education at UCV, where she later served as Coordinator of the Degree in Teaching in Valencian and of Valencian language certification programmes until 2020.

She was appointed as a member of CIEACOVA (Interuniversity Commission for the Standardisation of Valencian Language Accreditation) by the Rector, Mr José Manuel Pagán, and since 2024 she has served as President of both the Plenary Assembly and the Standing Committee of the Interuniversity Commission for the Standardisation of Valencian Language Accreditation.

She currently coordinates the Valencian Department of the UCV Language Institute and continues to hold the presidency of CIEACOVA.

English teaching staff

Mr. Gabriel Calabuig Lloyd

He was born into a bilingual family: his father is from Valencia (Spain) and his mother from Oxford (United Kingdom). Perhaps for this reason, he developed an interest in English literature from a very young age. In 2014, he began his degree in English Studies at the University of Valencia (UV), spending a year studying abroad at Oxford Brookes University, where he discovered the approach that has driven his research: comparative literary analysis.

In February 2021, he graduated from the Master’s Degree in Humanities at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC), achieving an overall grade of excellent.

He has worked at the University of Valencia as a lecturer in the Department of English Studies and, since 2021, has been teaching Spanish and English as foreign languages at the Language Institute of the Catholic University of Valencia.

Mr Arash Javadinejad

Mr Arash Javadinejad holds a PhD in Applied Linguistics and a Master’s Degree in Advanced English Studies from the University of Valencia. He has been teaching English for 16 years at different levels and in a wide range of educational contexts. Arash combines his academic and research interests with a strong passion for teaching.

He is currently a Social Communication Researcher at the University of Valencia and collaborates with several research institutes in the Valencian Community, such as IISLAFE and INCLIVA. He also works as a language consultant for private-sector companies, where he is involved in the development of technological solutions for language processing.

In addition to his academic credentials, Arash obtained the Cambridge CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) with the highest grade, in recognition of his teaching excellence (Pass A). He is also currently a Pearson Interlocutor.

Eavan Marie O’Donoghue

Eavan Marie O’Donoghue currently works as an English teacher at the Language Institute of the University of Valencia, where she has been part of the teaching team since 2010. During her more than fifteen years of experience at the IDL, she has carried out tasks in academic coordination, translation, and English teacher training within the Institute itself.

She is a certified Pearson examiner, collaborating in the supervision of the Pearson English International Certificate (PEIC) exam sessions held at the university, ensuring the quality and rigor of the certification process.

Eavan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Arts (Spanish Language and Culture Studies) from University College Cork (Ireland), a Master’s degree in Translation from the National University of Ireland, Galway, and a Certificate of Pedagogical Aptitude (CAP) obtained at the University of Valencia.

Edel Byrne

Edel obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Art History and Sociology in 2008 and later completed a Master’s in Library and Information Studies in 2010. She worked as a librarian at a university hospital in Dublin and, in 2014, obtained the CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) before moving to Valencia in 2016. Since then, she has developed her teaching career in English language education, accumulating more than eleven years of experience across various sectors and collaborating since 2023 with the Language Institute at the Catholic University of Valencia.

Her main professional interests focus on language teaching and assessment, as well as on developing communicative competence in academic and professional contexts. In addition, she is an accredited examiner for the Pearson speaking test, which allows her to contribute an up-to-date and specialized perspective in the field of language assessment.

Edel greatly enjoys her life and professional career in Valencia, where she continues to strengthen her teaching and research experience.

Juan Novella Muñoz

He has also collaborated at the IDL as a trainer in the Capacitación para la Enseñanza en Inglés (Training for Teaching in English) program, aimed at primary and secondary school teachers interested in using English as the medium of instruction for curricular subjects.

Additionally, he is certified as a DELE examiner by the Instituto Cervantes and contributes to the teaching of Spanish courses at the IDL. Notably, he participated in the design and delivery of a specialized course for Ukrainian refugees, focused on facilitating their linguistic and cultural integration during their stay in Spain.

 

Valencian teaching staff

Dr Maria Teresa Amat Vidal

Dr Maria Teresa Amat Vidal holds degrees in Catalan Philology and Hispanic Philology from the University of Valencia, as well as a Master’s Degree in Literary Culture and Language Consultancy from the same institution. She was awarded a PhD cum laude in Catalan Philology by the University of Valencia in 2020 for her doctoral thesis Comparative Analysis of Literary Culture in Secondary School Textbooks, supervised by Professor Gemma Lluch Crespo.

With regard to publications and academic work, the following may be highlighted: Amat, M. (2014). She has been teaching Compulsory Secondary Education and Upper Secondary Education at Vilavella School (Fomento Centros de Enseñanza) from 1994 to the present. Since 2009, she has also been teaching at UCV on Valencian language certification programmes, the Primary Education degree and preparatory courses for C1 and C2 Valencian language levels.

She has also taught at the Universitat Politècnica de València (from 2009 to 2017), the Valencian Council of Culture (2010–2011), the Directorate-General for Traffic (2010), and SERVEF (2010). She has served as a member of the University Entrance Examination boards (Selectividad) from 2000 to 2025, and as an examiner and marker in C1 and C2 examinations for the Official School of Languages (EOI), JQCV and CIEACOVA, as well as an auditor in CIEACOVA examinations.

Ms Núria Baixauli Bermell

Ms Núria Baixauli Bermell holds a degree in Catalan Philology from the University of Valencia (2019) and completed the Master’s Degree in Teacher Training for Secondary Education, Upper Secondary Education, Vocational Training and Language Teaching at UCV in 2020. She subseque Children and Young People (2021) and a Postgraduate Certificate in Catalan Language Proofreading (2021).

Since 2019, she has developed her professional career in the field of language and education, with experience in language consultancy, proofreading, materials design and teaching in a variety of centres, popular universities and local councils. She was awarded a scholarship by the Valencian Academy of the Language, where she completed a traineeship as a language specialist.

She is currently a Secondary Education teacher and a course tutor for civil servants of the Regional Ministry, and continues to teach adult learners through the Valencian Language Promotion Agencies, while also collaborating with the UCV Language Institute.

She is an accredited examiner for CIEACOVA, JQCV and the Official School of Languages (EOI). Her distinctions include the Sambori Prize (2014) and the award for Best Master’s Final Project in Language and Literature for A Journey through Catalan Poetry via the Nova Cançó (UCV, 2020). She is the author of Un pentagrama de versos (2021) and the B2 Valencian preparation manual Centre Carles Salvador (2024), as well as several publications in the journal Saó.

Blas Fuentes Benito

Blas Fuentes Benito studied Catalan Philology at the University of Valencia, graduating in 2004. Immediately after, he began teaching Valencian to adults under the DGPLGM and subsequently worked as a language technician, proofreader and translator for Sollana Town Hall, private companies, and the Regional Ministry of Education. In 2011, he received an EVA scholarship for a project on Translation into Valencian and Spanish on the Internet via Portals. In 2023, he completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Spanish–Catalan Translation. He has combined teaching Valencian with Spanish as a Foreign Language (ELE) at UCV.

Between 2005 and 2010, he directed a local publication, El Sequer. Recently, he has carried out three projects as part of a Linguistic Normalisation Plan at Sollana Town Hall and has collaborated with the newspaper La Veu.

He is also active in creative writing, having received awards such as First Prize in the I Vila de Sollana Literary Competition, the VI Poe-Silla Prize, and, more recently, awards in Short Story and Poetry Competitions for the Centenary of Pou Pudent de Sollana, as well as the I Haiku and Short Poetry Competition in Ávila. In 2021, his poetry collection Taula d’absència was published. He also participates in various collaborative projects, such as Els darrers catorze.

Francesc Xavier Guijarro Mas

Francesc Xavier Guijarro Mas holds a degree in French Philology from the University of Valencia and a degree in Translation and Interpreting (Catalan–French–Italian–Portuguese) from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. He initially completed a Master’s in Audiovisual Translation at the University of Cádiz. Passionate about languages and cultural exchange, he spent time in the Caribbean as a language assistant on the small island of Marie-Galante.

After further stays in Trieste (Italy) and Tampere (Finland), he returned to Valencia and worked as an interpreter at the Immigrant Support Centre. It was there, when asked to teach literacy and Valencian classes, that he discovered his passion for teaching, particularly for sharing his native language. After completing a Master’s in Teacher Training at VIU, he joined the Official School of Languages through competitive examination and also worked as an associate lecturer at the University of Valencia, teaching various subjects in the Faculties of Education, Economics, and Philology.

He currently works at the Quatre Carreres Official School of Languages and at UCV, teaching Valencian preparation courses for certification. In addition to his teaching, he serves as an assessor for CIEACOVA and the Valencian Language Qualification Board (JQCV).

Mr. Ximo Martínez Ortiz

Ximo Martínez Ortiz holds a degree in Hispanic Philology, specialising in Valencian Philology (Faculty of Philology, University of Valencia). He also holds a Diploma in Teaching Valencian, a Diploma in Teaching for Basic General Education in Spanish Language and Modern English, and a Diploma in Teaching for Basic General Education in Human Sciences.

He works as an Adult Education teacher in the municipal adult education programme of Alcúdia Town Hall (Centre Enric Valor) and as a Technician at the Office for the Promotion of Valencian Language Use at the Town Hall of Alcúdia.

He teaches online Valencian courses at levels A2, B1, B2, C1, C2, and Administrative Language at UCV Language Institute, Valencia Provincial Council, Melchor Botella Trade Union School, FVMP, and the Universitat Politècnica de València.

He is the creator and teacher of the programme Biodiversity in Alcúdia Schools and serves as Administrator of the Aula Mentor online courses at Alcúdia Town Hall under the Ministry of Education.

He is an examiner and proofreader for the Valencian language exams of CIEACOVA and JQCV and serves as President of the JQCV at the Alzira branch.

He is also a published author of eleven books, a proofreader for the journal Quaderns d’Educació Contínua, and a proofreader and translator for the electronic journal Rizoma Freireano, as well as for numerous works by Paulo Freire and other authors.

Albert Perpinyà i Puig

Albert Perpinyà i Puig holds a degree in Catalan Philology from the University of Valencia. He completed the Master’s Degree in Secondary Education Teaching and a Master’s in Language Consultancy and Literary Culture at the University of Valencia in 2014 and 2015, respectively.

Since 2015, he has taught Valencian in both public and private institutions as part of preparation courses for CIEACOVA, EOI, and JQCV certification exams. He also taught at the Open University of Catalonia during 2015–2016. From 2016, he began teaching in public secondary schools and, in 2023, joined the UCV Language Institute.

He is currently a Valencian teacher at a public adult education centre and at the UCV Language Institute.

Laura Rubio Heras

Laura Rubio Heras holds a degree in Hispanic Philology from the University of Valencia, specialising in Spanish Language and Valencian Philology. Her professional career has been closely linked to teaching Valencian to adults (over 18 years old), primarily for certification exam preparation for various institutions, as well as translation and text proofreading in Valencian, and the management and organisation of campaigns promoting Valencian use in municipalities such as Alboraia, Museros, Foios, Vallada, l’Alcúdia de Crespins, and El Puig de Santa Maria.

In the 2012–2013 academic year, she began teaching at the Municipal Adult Education Centre of La Pobla de Vallbona (Valencia), and she has been its director since 2023. She combines this role with her work at the Catholic University of Valencia – Saint Vincent Ferrer, where since November 2021 she has served as Secretary of the CIEACOVA Commission and represents the university on the Interuniversity Evaluation Commission (CAI). In January 2022, she assumed the role of coordinator of this commission and President of the Central Board of CIEACOVA.

Isidre Sánchez Martínez

Isidre Sánchez Martínez holds a degree in Geography and History, specialising in Medieval History, with studies in Palaeography, Diplomatics and Archival Science from the University of Valencia. He has completed doctoral courses in this field and has collaborated with the Department of Palaeography and Diplomatics at the University of Valencia. He also holds CAP and C2 Valencian certifications, as well as a Master’s in Valencian Teaching. He has completed training courses with CIEACOVA and has published the indexes of the journal Cavanilles Musicology.

Since 1996, he has taught Valencian at secondary and upper secondary levels. Since 2022, he has served as a CIEACOVA examiner and teaches at the UCV Language Institute. He is currently a teacher at Col·legi Puresa de Maria-Cid in Valencia, a CIEACOVA examiner, and a lecturer at the UCV Language Institute.

Ofèlia Sanmartín Bono

Ofèlia Sanmartín Bono holds a degree in Hispanic Philology, specialising in Valencian Philology, from the University of Valencia. She completed a Master’s in Language Consultancy at the University of Valencia between 1993 and 1995. As a researcher, she won the XXXII Senyera Prize for her study Some Considerations for the Stylistic Analysis of Tirant lo Blanc.

She has contributed to several lexicographical works, including: Dictionary of Linguistics (AVL–Termcat), Practical Dictionary of Valencian Usage (Edicions Bromera), Basic Dictionary of Valencian Usage (Edicions Bromera), Valencian Pronunciation Dictionary (Edicions Bromera), School Dictionary Spanish–Valencian / Valencian–Spanish (Edicions Bromera), Classroom Dictionary Spanish–Valencian / Valencian–Spanish (Edicions Bromera), Dictionary of Synonyms, Antonyms and Related Ideas (Edicions Bromera), Multipurpose Dictionary (Edicions Bromera), and Els verbs valencians (Edicions Bromera).

She teaches Valencian preparation courses for accreditation exams and language proficiency courses at UCV; courses for Valencian accreditation exams with the Generalitat Valenciana, at the Valencia Chamber of Commerce, and at Valencia Town Hall; text correction courses at IVAP; administrative language courses at GVA; the Master’s in Language Consultancy and Literary Culture at the University of Valencia; and dubbing courses at the Universitat Cardenal Herrera. She coordinates the Generalitat Valenciana’s online Valencian courses for IVAP, EVES, INAP and the Judicial School.

She is a member of the Programmes and Examinations Commission of the Interuniversity Commission for the Standardisation of Valencian Language Accreditation, representing UCV.

Miquel Sanz

Miquel Sanz holds degrees in Catalan Philology and Italian Philology from the University of Valencia. He has spent academic years at the Università degli Studi di Bologna (Italy) and the University of Granada. He also completed a Master’s in Language Consultancy and Literary Culture at the University of Valencia.

He was awarded a lecturing scholarship from the Valencian Language Academy (Acadèmia Valenciana de la Llengua) and the Jaume I University of Castellón de la Plana, serving as a Catalan lecturer and teaching coordinator at the Università degli Studi di Pavia (Italy), as well as working as a Spanish language assistant.

His experience teaching Valencian includes roles at the University of Valencia, the Ministry of Social Welfare, and the Ministry of Economy and Finance. At UCV, he began teaching in the summer of 2017, delivering Valencian Certification courses, the Valencian Teacher (Mestre) programme, and advanced language courses (C1 and C2 levels).

He currently teaches Valencian Language and Literature at secondary level (ESO) at CCEIP Lope Castellón (Castelló de la Plana), while also conducting language courses and certification preparation at the University of Valencia Language Centre and the UCV Language Institute. Additionally, he serves on the oral examination panels for C1–C2 level exams of CIEACOVA at UCV, participates in JQCV examinations in Castelló de la Plana, and has been a member of the oral panels for the PUC Valencian C1–C2 exams at the EOI of Castelló de la Plana.

His commitment to the promotion, study, and dissemination of Valencian has led him to collaborate on translation, text proofreading, and other related projects.

Spanish teaching staff

Dr Maria José Ballester Maroto

Maria José Ballester Maroto holds a degree in Hispanic Philology from the University of Valencia and a PhD in Comparative Literature from the University of Salamanca. She also completed a Master’s in Secondary Education Teaching with a specialisation in Language and Literature.

She has participated in various literature conferences, including the XII International Congress of Contemporary Spanish Literature at the University of A Coruña (2011); the IX and X Congresses of Crime Novel and Cinema organised by the University of Salamanca (2012 and 2013); the X International Congress of Fantastic Literature at the University of Lausanne (2013); and the II International Congress “Visions of the Fantastic” at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (2014).

She has taught Spanish at different language academies while conducting research in comparative literature. After receiving training as a teacher and examiner, she has worked in institutions such as Letra Hispánica (Salamanca), Costa de Valencia, La Pagoda, and Caxton College (Valencia).

Currently, she combines her teaching role at the American School of Valencia with teaching Spanish as a second language courses at the Catholic University of Valencia.

Rubén Gómez López

Rubén Gómez López graduated in English Studies with a Minor in German from the University of Valencia and completed an Erasmus placement at Humboldt University, Berlin. From the beginning of his academic career, he has shown a strong interest in language teaching.

He subsequently completed a Master’s in Secondary, Baccalaureate, Vocational and Language Teaching with a specialisation in English at the Catholic University of Valencia. For four years, he received specialised training for teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language at Hispania, Escuela de Español, where he also worked as a teacher. Later, he completed a Master’s in Spanish as a Foreign Language at the International University of Valencia.

He has more than ten years of professional experience teaching English and Spanish as a foreign language. He has collaborated on projects such as the Digital Spanish Week organised by FEDELE and the Fundación Proyecto Vivir, focused on training Spanish teachers for refugee women and children. He has also presented at the VII Colloquium of Hispanists of Southern Africa.

He currently teaches at the Language Institute of the Catholic University of Valencia, offering courses in English and Spanish for foreigners, as well as Spanish for specific purposes. He is accredited as a DELE C1/C2 examiner by the Instituto Cervantes and certified as an interlocutor for official Pearson exams.

Maurizio Salvatore Idili

Maurizio Salvatore Idili holds a degree in Philosophy and Education Sciences from the University of Sácer (Italy). He completed a Master’s in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language at the University of Barcelona and Pompeu Fabra University, as well as a Master’s in Secondary Education Teaching with a specialisation in Educational Guidance at the University of Valencia.

He has extensive international experience gained over the last decade, including Erasmus stays at the University of Malta (2013), at IES Cruce de Arinaga (Gran Canaria, 2014/15) as an English assistant, and at the University of Iceland (2023) as an ELE teacher. He has collaborated with Kiel University (Germany) through the ProPic project and worked as an online teacher for a virtual school in Singapore. He also completed an internship at a French-Catalan translation centre in Perpignan, France.

He has taught Spanish and English to students of various ages and levels and has presented at the Practical Meeting of E/LE Teachers in Barcelona (2019) and the XVIII International Forum for ELE Teachers in Valencia (2023). He has also delivered a webinar on using Classcraft as a gamified platform for language teaching.

Since 2020, he has been an accredited examiner for all DELE levels at the Instituto Cervantes. He currently combines his teaching role at the Catholic University of Valencia with coordination and teaching at Academia La Pagoda. He is pursuing a PhD in Applied Linguistics at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, focusing on error analysis.

Ricard Márquez Lozano

Ricard Márquez Lozano graduated in Primary Education from the University of Lleida, where he received solid training in didactics and pedagogy applied to multicultural contexts. He later completed a Master’s in Education and Information and Communication Technologies, focusing on integrating digital tools into language teaching.

He currently teaches at the American School of Valencia, delivering Spanish as a Foreign Language courses across different educational levels. His work focuses on designing meaningful learning experiences adapted to international contexts, combining communicative approaches with innovative technological resources.

His academic interests include teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language, digital competence for teachers, and the development of interactive educational materials. He is accredited as a DELE examiner for levels A1 and A2 by the Instituto Cervantes.

Mr Pàtrocle Rubén Medina i Santos

Pàtrocle Rubén Medina i Santos holds a degree in Classical Philology from the University of Valencia and has undertaken studies at the University of Salamanca, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece), and the University of Toronto (Canada). He also earned a Master’s in Language Sciences and Hispanic Linguistics.

Over the past decade, he has worked as a teacher and researcher in various institutions and countries, and has presented at international conferences for teachers of Spanish

as a Foreign Language in Greece, Bulgaria, Italy, and Slovenia. He currently combines teaching with research focused on second language acquisition in bilingual and multilingual environments.

He supervises Master’s theses in the Master’s programme in Spanish as a Foreign Language and is responsible for DELE and CCSE examinations. Additionally, he has developed a strong editorial career, contributing to the creation and publication of Spanish as a Foreign Language methods and official exam preparation manuals, including Rumbo al nuevo DELE A2.

His linguistic training and interest in language learning have led him to collaborate on several projects related to second language assessment.

Mr Alejandro Mollá López

Alejandro Mollá López graduated in Primary Education Teaching with a specialisation in English Language from the University of Valencia. He spent one year at the University of Wollongong (Australia) as part of the International Programme of the University of Valencia. He subsequently completed a Master’s in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language at the University of Cantabria (2019/20) and a Master’s in Foreign Policy at the International University of Valencia (2022/23).

Since 2022, he has taught Spanish as a Foreign Language at the Catholic University of Valencia. Previously, he worked as a Spanish teacher in various educational institutions, schools, and language academies, and collaborated with the Instituto Cervantes in Tel Aviv.

He is accredited as a DELE examiner for levels A1 to B2 by the Instituto Cervantes and has completed specialised courses related to language teaching, including the implementation of Artificial Intelligence in the classroom, the creation of teaching materials, and preparation for the SIELE exam.

Mr Marco Moreno Gijón

Marco Moreno Gijón graduated in Hispanic Philology from the University of Salamanca and began his research in syntax through a collaboration grant in the Department of Linguistics. After completing his studies, he undertook teaching placements as a Spanish as a Foreign Language instructor at the University of Bologna (Italy) and the University of Poitiers (France) as part of the Erasmus+ programme.

He later completed a Master’s in Secondary Education Teaching with a specialisation in Language and Literature at the University of Valencia.

Since 2024, he has been teaching at the Catholic University of Valencia, delivering courses in Spanish for international mobility programmes and Spanish for specific purposes. He continues to develop his expertise through specialised ELE courses at the Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo.

Ms Pepa Rodrigo Vázquez

Pepa Rodrigo Vázquez graduated in Hispanic Studies from the University of Valencia, completing a Minor in Catalan Philology and a Master’s in Secondary Education Teaching. In 2025, she successfully passed the competitive examinations for Secondary Education teaching in the Valencian Community.

She currently works as a secondary school teacher while also teaching Spanish at the Catholic University of Valencia. She maintains a strong commitment to the teaching of Spanish language and literature, as well as promoting linguistic and cultural diversity in education.

Ms Andrea Soto Torres

Andrea Soto Torres graduated in Primary Education Teaching from the University of Valencia, specialising in the teaching of English as a Foreign Language. Since 2018, she has been working in language education, beginning her career with primary school students, where she was also responsible for designing curriculum plans tailored to each group.

In 2020, she joined Vaughan Systems, one of the most recognised institutions in English language teaching, where she delivers the Professional English Master’s programme, focusing on Business English for adults. From 2025, she combines this role with teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language to university students at the Catholic University of Valencia.

Passionate about language teaching and learning, she focuses on creating communicative, dynamic learning environments centred on the practical use of the language.
