The Language Institute of the Catholic University of Valencia San Vicente Mártir (UCV) is the university service specialised in language education. It was established in 2010 with the aim of offering society excellence in language teaching, focused on enhancing employability and promoting academic and professional development through rigorous, personalised and high-quality training.
Located in the heart of Valencia, the Language Institute combines academic tradition with modernity, offering an international and dynamic environment where students from different backgrounds and cultures come together.
Since its inception, the Institute has worked to achieve the highest standards of quality in language teaching. In the field of English, the Language Institute is an official certification centre for the Pearson English International Certificate and was one of the first university centres in Spain to offer this internationally recognised qualification, which is accredited by ACLES and recognised by all Spanish autonomous communities. This collaboration with Pearson guarantees students an objective, reliable assessment aligned with the levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
In the area of Valencian, the Language Institute is authorised by the Interuniversity Commission for the Standardisation of Valencian Language Accreditation (CIEACOVA) to administer official examinations, offering the possibility of obtaining language certificates officially recognised by the Generalitat Valenciana.
With regard to Spanish as a foreign language, since 1 February 2019 the UCV Language Institute has been an accredited centre of the Instituto Cervantes, becoming the first university centre in the Valencian Community to obtain this distinction. This international accreditation, aimed at public and private centres that teach Spanish, recognises the excellence of our academic activity, the qualifications of our teaching staff, the quality of our facilities and the transparency of our institutional management.
The Language Institute offers a wide range of courses in English, Valencian, French, German, Italian and Spanish, with programmes adapted to the needs of both national and international students. These courses, available in face-to-face, blended and online formats, promote the acquisition of linguistic competences that are useful in both academic and professional contexts.
In addition to its teaching activity, the Institute organises international language immersion programmes, international weeks and collaborations with foreign universities within the framework of the Erasmus+ programme, thus promoting cultural exchange and the internationalisation of the university community.
The teaching staff of the Language Institute is made up of university lecturers specialising in language teaching, accredited as official examiners and with extensive experience in research and language education.
As part of its ongoing commitment to improvement and excellence, the Language Institute regularly evaluates student satisfaction, teaching quality and the effectiveness of its management, consolidating its position as a benchmark in language teaching within the Spanish university system.
