Additional information

Students who enrol onto this course are able to understand a wide range of extended texts and with a certain level of demand as well as recognize implicit meaning. They can express themselves fluently and spontaneously without many obvious examples of effort to find the appropriate expression. They can use language in a flexible manner and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. They can produce clear, detailed and well- structured texts about a certain amount of complexity showing controlled use of organization mechanisms, connectors and cohesive devices.

The course is aimed at the acquisition and strengthening of grammatical aspects studied, as well as developing understanding and recognition of those exceptions which, because of their frequency are indispensable for any student of Spanish language. The text typology covers all modalities, language levels and oral practices are focused on a wide range of topics, interlocutors and contexts.

The course aims at strengthening, establishing and expanding all the achievements, both oral and written, that students have been accumulating over their study of language. Furthermore it is intended to ensure the correct use of idioms, varieties of diction and specific vocabulary that can be required. Vocabulary expansion is achieved quickly and gradually by all kinds of texts and activities that test the lexical richness of the students.

This course aims to reach the level C1 requirements of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

It is focused on the four language skills (conversation and interaction, listening comprehension, reading comprehension and writing). During this class period, students will receive the practice needed to pass the Official Exam C1 DELE at the end of the course.

Requirements

In order to enrol on the Spanish C1 course, students must have achieved a Spanish B2 Level prior to the course start date. Instituto de Lenguas reserves the possibility of administering a level test during the first week of the course.

Evaluation

The mark of any student is determined by taking a written exam and an oral presentation, as well as the attendance and class work.

The course is focused on the official exams preparation of the Instituto Cervantes. We offer our students the possibility to apply for these examinations.
